What
is Laser Lipolysis?
Laser
Lipolysis is the technique by which the parent cell of the fat is destroyed.
Who
is candidate for the Laser Lipolysis?
Any
individual who is suffering from excessive fat deposition not responding to
any of the traditional ways of treatment is the candidate for Lipolysis.
How
is the procedure carried out?
First
the area is selected and mapped, then the anesthetic agent is injected in
the area with the special pump and then after some time laser probe of the
thickness similar to hair is inserted under the skin and then the lasing is
done in that area. The destroyed fat is converted to the smooth, thick oily
substance that is removed from the body by either draining out by special
pump or will be absorbed by the body tissues itself.
What
kind of anesthesia is used for the procedure?
Local
anesthetic is infiltrated in the area, no need for general anaesthesia.
What
is the difference between liposuccssion and Lipolysis?
Liposuccssion
is the old surgical method where the area is infiltrated with the tumescent
solution and after 30 to 45 minutes, the fat is broken down to pieces and is
sucked out with the mechanical succession. The procedure is usually done
under general anaesthesia and will require hospitalization for few days.
In
contrast, Lipolysis is out patient department procedure where no hospital
stay is required, also procedure is carried out in a local anaesthesia,
without any tumescent solution and the parent fat cell (adipose cells) is
converted into smooth homogenous oily substance.
Result
wise Lipolysis is more stable with almost minimum requirement for
repetitions and uniform fat reduction. Also procedure is very comfortable
and can be perform at any age.
What
are the side effects of Lipolysis?
As
such there are no side effects, rarely mild headache due to mild anesthetic
or discomfort related to pressure-garments if prescribed.
There
is no need for general anaesthesia and all the complications related to that
are not seen. There is no need for any sutures, large incisions and
dressings as seen in liposuccssion procedures.
How
much time does the procedure take?
Usually
it depends upon the are of treatment, one abdomen takes around 1 hour 30
minutes, both the thighs around 1 hour, both arms around 45 minutes and
double chin around 30 minutes.
For
how long patient have to stay in the hospital?
There
is NO HOSPITALISATION, as the procedure is done under local anesthetic and
does not require hospitalization.
For
how long one has to come for the dressings?
Unlike
other methods, there is no dressing required as the procedure is done with
less then 1 mm incision and there is no scar even observed.
What
incase too much of the fat is removed?
After
6 months of the treatment , patient is reassessed for the out come of the
treatment, and if the access of fat is destroyed then small procedure called
lipo fillup can be performed.
What
if sufficient result is not achived?
All
the patients are reassessed after 6 months, and if the compromised results
are seen then the procedure can be re done to balance it at no extra cost.
Well this is the rarity and you done require procedure for 1 hour or 30
minutes, its just few minutes in redoing it. The Lipolysis is a sure
procedure.
